3. University senate established at Jeju National University
More diverse section of university community now involved in school issues

The students and general staff at Jeju National University now have more power to change school policies.

The JNU professors’ association officially established a university senate Tuesday. The new deliberative body includes representatives from four associations, including those for civil servants, students, and teaching assistants.

The number of professors on the senate is limited to no more than half of the total members. The previous JNU council had comprised mostly professors.

Accordingly, the senate will now incorporate the ideas of other members of the university community when it considers issues ranging from curriculum and policy revisions to college closures and human resources.

제주대 대학평의원회 출범

제주대 학칙을 바꾸는데 재학생과 일반 교직원들의 입김이 한층 세졌습니다.

제주대 교수회는 2일 공무원직장협의회,그리고 총학생회와 조교협의회 등 4개 직능단체가 참여하는 대학내 심의기관인 제주대학교 대학평의원회를 공식 출범시켰습니다.

이들 4개 직능단체는 종전 교수 중심으로 꾸려진 제주대 평의회를 교수 구성비율을 절반을 넘지 못하도록 제한했습니다.

이에 따라 제주대 평의원회는 교육과정과 학칙 개정, 단과대학 폐지나 교직원 인사 등을 심의하는 과정에서 대학 구성원들의 의견을 보다 적극 반영하게됩니다.
