2. Huge drop in number of housing permits issued
Down 39% in Q3
Construction permits for residential buildings have been significantly decreased in Jeju.
According to Jeju City, the residential building permit area was 463,000 square meters for the third quarter of this year. The number of permits issued was 1,500, which was down 39 percent compared to the same period last year.
By type of housing, single-family houses showed the biggest decline of 48 percent. Apartment houses were next with 46 percent followed by multi-family houses with 16 percent.
Local officials say this decreasing trend will probably continue due to the housing oversupply and high selling prices.

제주시 지역에서 주거용 건축허가가 크게 줄고 있습니다.
제주시에 따르면, 올 3분기 주거용 건축허가 면적은 46만 3천여 제곱미터에 1천 500여 건으로 지난해 같은 기간보다 39% 감소했습니다.
단독주택이 48%로 감소폭이 가장 컸고 아파트 등 공동주택 46%, 다가구주택 16%로 뒤를 이었습니다.
제주시는 최근 3년간 주택공급이 과잉됐고 높은 분양가 등으로 건축허가가 줄어든 것으로 보인다며 앞으로도 당분간 이같은 추세가 이어질 것으로 전망했습니다.
