Jeju City has 2nd most, Seogwipo 3rd most in country

In related news, Jeju was also found to have some of the most illegally-run rural accommodations in the nation.

National Assembly member (정운천) Jeong Un-cheon, from the Bareunmirae Party, analyzed the issue with data supplied by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.

There have been over 730 of these types of violations in Jeju: 424 in Jeju City and 310 in Seogwipo.

Those are the second and third highest totals in the nation, following only the 560 violations in (거제) Geoje City.

Lawmaker Jeong urged all local governments to monitor the operations of rural guesthouses and similar accommodations, saying most of the violations that have been found involve illegal expansion or unauthorized use change of facilities.

농어촌 민박 사업과 관련해 각종 불법영업 행위가 많이 발생한 지역으로 제주가 전국 상위권에 오르는 오명을 썼습니다.

바른미래당 정운천 국회의원이 농림축산식품부를 통해 지방자치단체별로 농어촌 민박의 불법행위 적발 현황을 분석한 결과 제주에서는 730여 건이 적발된 것으로 집계됐습니다.

제주시 424건, 서귀포시가 310건에 달했습니다.

이 같은 적발 현황은 거제시 560여 건에 이어 전국에서 두 번째와 세 번째로 많은 것입니다.

정운천 의원은 적발된 민박 대부분이 불법 증축과 무단용도 변경에 해당한다며
지자체별로 운영실태를 점검해야 한다고 강조했습니다.
