Governor ‘accepts that most islanders oppose Greenland Intl. Hospital’

The governor says he respects the results of the public opinion poll on the opening of Greenland International Hospital.

A majority of respondents opposed the hospital. During a Monday meeting, Won Heeryong said he will respect the will of the people and that he would discuss the issue with representatives of the hospital, the Jeju Free International City Development Center, and local residents.

The governor added that he accepts that most islanders oppose the hospital because of worries of how it would damage public medical services. He vowed to do everything possible to take those concerns into account regarding the issue.

원희룡 지사가 녹지국제병원 공론조사결과를 최대한 존중하겠다는 입장을 밝혔습니다.

원 지사는 8일 오전 열린 주간정책조정회의에서 녹지국제병원에 대해 불허를 권고한 공론조사위원회의 결정사항에 대해 최대한 존중하고 병원측과 JDC, 해당지역 주민과 긴밀히 협의하겠다고 말했습니다.

그러면서 이번 결정은 의료 공공성 훼손을 우려하는 도민 다수의 뜻을 반영한 것으로 받아들인다며 앞으로 수습과 사후대책에 최선을 다하겠다고 강조했습니다.
