3. Presentation on changes to university admissions
New rules for 2022 academic year

Local officials are holding a presentation Saturday at the Jeju Student Cultural Center to explain changes to university admissions.

The changes go into effect for the 2022 academic year, so students who are now in grade three at middle school will be the first to deal with the new system.

The Jeju Provincial Office of Education is organizing the presentation. Speakers will show how the process will change and what schools and students can do to prepare for the modifications.

The Ministry of Education says 30 percent of university admissions will be based on College Scholastic Ability Test scores. The current standard is 20 percent. Also, test scores for a second foreign language and Chinese characters will be absolute, rather than relative, evaluations.

앞서 교육부가 발표한 2022학년도 대입제도 개편방안에 따르면 오는 2022학년도 대입에서 수능 위주 정시전형 비율이 현재 20% 수준에서 30% 이상으로 늘어나고 수능 평가방식은 제2외국어와 한문 영역이 절대평가로 전환됩니다.
