4. More demand for English translations of government documents
From 149 translation requests in 2008 to 354 last year

More people are taking advantage of government English translation service for documents like the family relation certificate, the basic certificate, and the marriage relation certificate.

Jeju City officials say there 354 translation requests last year. The total was just 149 in 2008 and then 252 in 2014.

Through the end of September there had already been 246 requests this year.

The officials say the increase is due to rising numbers of international marriages and local students studying overseas.

최근 가족관계증명서나 기본증명서, 혼인관계증명서 등에 대한 영문번역 서비스 수요가 증가하고 있습니다.

제주시에 따르면 지난해 접수받은 가족관계등록사항별 증명서에 대한 영문번역 서비스 신청 건수는 354건으로 지난 2008년 149건, 2014년 252건에 비해 증가했습니다.

올 들어서도 지난달까지 모두 246건이 접수됐습니다.

제주시는 최근 유학과 국제결혼 등이 늘어나면서 영문번역 서비스 수요가 늘어나는 것으로 보고 있습니다.
