4. Local airport has most wind shear alerts in nation
135 this year through end of August

Jeju International Airport has the most wind shear alerts in the nation.

The alerts disrupt landings and departures.

National Assembly member and Democratic Party representative Lee Yong-deuk says that, according to data he received from the Korea Meteorological Agency, there were 135 wind shear alerts at the Jeju airport through the end of August this year. That’s the most among the five airports for which data was released.

Also of note: the accuracy of weather forecasts at the local airport decreased from 91.5 percent last year to 90.7 percent this year.

제주공항이 항공기 이·착륙을 방해하는 윈드시어 경보가 전국에서 가장 자주 발효되고 있습니다.

기상청이 더불어민주당 이용득 의원에 제출한 자료에 따르면 올해 8월까지 제주공항에 135건의 윈드시어가 발효돼 전국 5개 공항 가운데 가장 많았습니다.

하지만 제주공항의 예보 정확도는 지난해 91.5%에서 올해 90.7%로 떨어졌습니다.
