2. ‘Olle Olle Safe Street’ opens
Neighborhood watch group will keep street safe for women, children

The Gija Street area adjacent to the Jeju Municipal Police Office in Ara-dong, Jeju City has been designated a so-called “Olle Olle Safe Street” that area residents patrol themselves.

The Women’s Emergency 1366 Jeju Call Center held an opening ceremony for the street Tuesday. About 30 people, including area residents, provincial police, and municipal police, took part.

The purpose of the designation is to boost awareness of and prevent violence against women and children. Area residents will form a neighborhood watch group, whose members will continuously patrol the street.

아라동 '올레 올레 안심길' 개통

제주시 아라동 제주시 자치경찰단 인근 기자길 일대가 지역주민이 직접 돌보는 '올레 올레 안심길'로 지정됐습니다.

여성긴급전화 1366제주센터는 23일 제주시 아라동 기자길에서 마을 주민과 경찰, 자치경찰 등 30여 명이 참석한 가운데 '올레 올레 안심길 개통식'을 열었습니다.

올레 올레 안심길은 아동과 여성폭력에 대한 경각심을 알리고 범죄를 예방하기 위해 추진된 것으로

앞으로 지역주민으로 구성된 마을 안전지킴이단을 중심으로 지속적인 순찰활동과 함께 환경개선이 이뤄지게 됩니다.
