2. ‘Jeju National Maritime High School’ closer to reality
Legal change allows for school’s establishment

One of Jeju’s representatives at the National Assembly has given advance notice of a legal change that clears the way for the establishment of a national maritime high school in Jeju.

Democratic Party representative Wi Seong-gon says the revision is to the enforcement ordinance for the establishment of such schools.

The law currently deals with the purpose, establishment, and location of only the Busan and Incheon National Maritime High Schools. The change will add a school in Jeju to that list.

One of the the Moon Jae-in administration’s stated objectives is to cultivate the maritime workforce in Jeju.

국립 제주해사고의 설립 근거를 담은 시행령이 입법예고됐습니다.

더불어민주당 위성곤 의원은 최근 이같은 내용을 담은 '국립해사고 설치령 일부개정령안'을 입법예고했습니다.

주요내용을 보면 현재 부산과 인천해사고만으로 규정돼 있는 국립해사고등학교의 목적과 설립, 소재지에 제주해사고를 추가했습니다.

문재인 정부는 국정과제로 제주권역의 해기인력 양성추진을 반영한 바 있습니다.
