3. Jeju seeks designation as ‘clean flatfish industry zone’
Province commissions wide-ranging research

The province is seeking designation as a so-called “clean flatfish industry zone.”

It has commissioned a study by the Research Institute for Regional Government & Economy of Korea.

Researchers will investigate eco-friendly aquafarm policies, job creation, the promotion of innovative growth industries through private sector collaborations, the development of specialized projects, and project financing methods.

Provincial officials will then discuss the results of the research in briefings, public hearings, and at the provincial council. They plan to apply for zone designation next September.

제주특별자치도가 청정 광어 산업 특구 지정을 추진합니다.

이를 위해 최근 한국자치경제연구원에 특구 지정에 따른 연구용역을 발주했습니다.

친환경양식 생산 정책과 일자리 창출, 민간기업과 연계한 혁신성장산업 육성, 다양한 특화사업 발굴, 재원조달방안을 담게 됩니다.

제주도는 이번 연구용역을 바탕으로 보고회와 주민공청회, 의회 의견 정취 등을 거쳐 내년 9월 정부에 특구지정을 신청한다는 계획입니다.
