Grace period for violators through November 21

Officials say unemployment fraud is a growing problem on the island.

The provincial government reports that the number of people caught for illegally receiving unemployment benefits went from 120 in 2016 to 325 last year, and to 180 so far this year. The amount of money involved has grown from 100 million won in 2016, to 240 million last year, to 130 million won and counting in 2018.

The province is allowing violators to voluntarily report themselves through November 21st. Those turning themselves in will be exempt from further fines and criminal punishment.




실업급여 부정 수급 증가

실업급여를 부정하게 수급하는 사례가 증가하고 있습니다.

제주특별자치도에 따르면 지난 2016년 120명이던 실업급여 부정수급자가 지난해 325명으로 2배 이상 늘었고 올해도 현재까지 180명에 이르고 있습니다.

액수로 보면 지난 2016년 1억원에서 지난해 2억 4천만원, 올해 1억 3천만원을 기록하고 있습니다.

제주도는 이에 따라 다음달 21일까지 실업급여 부정수급 자진 신고기간을 운영하고 이 기간에 신고하면 추가 징수와 형사처벌을 면제해주기로 했습니다.
