2. Major expansion of elementary school kindergarten programs
Number of new classes to double next year

Compared to the original expansion, authorities are doubling next year the number of new classes at kindergartens attached to area elementary schools.

There had planned to add eleven classes. The provincial education office will expand that number to 22 next year, in line with the national government’s policy of enhancing the public nature of kindergartens.

The office is creating six classes in new kindergarten programs at (동광) Donggwang, Baeknok, and (신창) Shinchang Elementary School as well as the (동복) Dongbok Branch of Gimnyeong Elementary. It is also adding 16 classes to 14 existing programs at other institutions, including (외도)Oedo Elementary School.

내년 제주지역 병설유치원이 당초 계획보다 두배 이상 확대 운영됩니다

제주도교육청은 정부의 유치원 공공성 강화 방침에 따라 병설유치원을 당초 11개 학급에서 22개 학급으로 두 배 확대한다고 밝혔습니다.

이에 따라 동광초와 백록초, 신창초, 김녕초 동복 분교장에 여섯 학급을 신설하고
외도초 병설유치원 등 14개 병설유치원에 열여섯 학급을 증설합니다.
