Governor warns potential investors about false information

The governor is warning area residents not to be taken in by false information and empty promises in the cryptocurrency market.

Won Heeryong says that as the province pushes for designation as a special zone for blockchain technology, some people have been misleading potential investors by promising high returns on Jeju-related cryptocurrencies.

Won added that the province’s plan does not include blanket acceptance of cryptocurrency trading, and he urged people to report any questionable claims.

원희룡 도지사가 도민께 드리는 말씀을 통해 암호화폐와 관련한 거짓정보로 피해를 입지 않도록 주의를 당부했습니다.

최근 제주도가 블록체인 특구 유치를 추진하면서 이에 편승해 마치 제주와 관련이 있는 것처럼 암호화폐를 통해 높은 수익을 보장한다는 등 도민들을 현혹하는 사례가 발생하고 있다고 말했습니다.

현재 제주도가 추진하는 블록체인 특구 계획은 암호화폐 거래를 전면 허용하자는 것이 아니며, 이같은 사례를 접하면 신고해 줄 것을 당부했습니다.
