4. More financial support for adopting abandoned animals
Province will provide up to ￦200,000 for vet visits

The provincial government is going to provide more financial support to people who adopt an abandoned animal.

The province had provided a maximum of 100,000 won to cover veterinarian bills for people who adopt abandoned pets, if the bills topped 200,000 won. It will now pay up to 200,000 for neutering and spaying.

Financial support had also been limited to vet visits, but it will now also be available for grooming and similar expenses.

Anyone who adopts a pet at the Jeju Animal Shelter beginning in November qualifies for the support.

입양동물 지원 확대…수술비 최대 20만원

입양동물에 대한 지원이 확대됩니다.

제주특별자치도에 따르면 입양한 유기동물에 대한 병원 진료비가 20만원 이상일 경우 최대 10만원까지 지원됐었으나 중성화 수술에 한해 20만원으로 늘어납니다.

또 병원 진료비에 한해 지원되던 부분도 애견 미용비용으로 확대됩니다.

지원은 다음달(11월)부터 동물보호센터에서 동물을 입양하는 경우부터 적용됩니다.
