A provincial council member is again proposing administrative audits of large development projects to ensure there were no illegal favors granted when construction permits were issued and to determine their environmental impact.

Democratic Party representative (김경학) Kim Gyeong-hak said Wednesday during a press briefing that he would submit the proposal Thursday.

If it passes, a special nine-member committee will be formed at the council to investigate the projects beginning in January.

The targets of the audits would include 12 projects that are greater than 500,000 square meters in size; eight amusement and leisure developments, including the Myths and History Theme Park and the Yerae Resort Complex; and the JDC’s Global Education City and Jeju Science Park.

대규모 개발사업장 '행정사무조사' 재추진

대규모 관광개발사업장에 대한 인허가 절차 특혜 여부와 환경적 영향을 살펴보기 위한 제주도의회 행정사무조사가 다시 추진됩니다.

김경학 더불어민주당 원내대표는 31일 도의회 기자실에서 브리핑을 갖고 행정사무조사 요구서를 1일 본회의 안건으로 제출한다고 밝혔습니다.

요구서가 통과되면 '대규모 개발사업에 대한 행정사무조사를 위한 특별위원회'를 도의원 9명 규모로 구성하고 내년 1월 중 조사에 들어가게 된다고 덧붙였습니다.

조사 대상은 50만 제곱미터 이상 대규모 개발사업 12곳과 신화역사공원과 예래휴양형주거단지 등 유원지 조성사업 8곳, 그리고 JDC가 추진한 영어교육도시와 첨단과학기술단지도 포함됐습니다.
