3. Local April 3rd committee accepts more claims from victims
National committee will make final decision on 1,400 cases

The Jeju April 3rd Incident working committee has finished its review of nearly 14-hundred people who are seeking official status as either an incident victim or the relative of one.

The committee convened for its 160th meeting Wednesday and accepted the claims, collected from all parts of the island, of 54 people who say they were victims and 1,335 who say their family members were.

The April 3rd Incident Central Committee will now hold a final review of their cases before issuing its decision.

The 6th application period for victimhood status finishes at the end of the year. Through the end of October, authorities had received claims from about 230 victims and 14,000 relatives during the period.

제주 4.3 실무위원회가 희생자와 유족 1천 3백여 명을 심사 의결했습니다.

위원회는 10월 31일 제160차 회의를 열고 읍면동으로 접수된 희생자 54명과 유족 1천 335명을 심사해 원안 의결했습니다.

최종 인정 여부는 4.3 중앙위원회 최종 심의에서 결정될 예정입니다.

한편 이번 6차 추가접수는 연말까지 진행되며 지난달 까지희생자 230여 명과
유족 1만 4천여 명이 접수됐습니다.
