1. Disaster impact assessment system revived
New requirement for all development projects of at least 5,000 m2

Local officials are restoring a disaster impact assessment system for large development projects.

A system like this had been in place until 2008, when it was abolished.

The provincial government says an amendment has been implemented to the Countermeasures Against Natural Disasters Act that reinstates the assessments.

They are mandatory for all projects of at least 5,000 square meters, but the exact assessment requirements vary, depending on the development size.

대규모 개발사업에 따른 재해영향평가 제도가 10년만에 부활됩니다.

제주특별자치도는 재해영향평가 제도 도입을 골자로 하는 '자연재해대책법'이 최근 개정돼 시행에 들어갔다고 밝혔습니다.

주요내용을 보면 개발면적 5천 제곱미터 이상의 사업장에 대해 단계와 면적 규모에 따라 평가항목을 달리 적용한 재해영향평가를 도입합니다.
