Province will pay 60% of costs for all school meals next year

The provincial government has agreed to cover the majority of the cost of providing free school meals at island high schools, which are now available.

Governor Won Heeryong and Superintendent of education Lee Seok-mun met Tuesday at the provincial education office for a conference on education and administration, where they signed the agreement.

The province will fund 60 percent of the free meal program at area elementary, middle, and high schools. It is projected to cost 40.4 billion won next year, so the province will contribute 24.3 billion won.

제주도-교육청, 고교 무상급식비 지원 합의

제주도가 제주도교육청이 추진중인 고교 무상급식비를 공동 부담하는데 합의했습니다.

원희룡 도지사와 이석문 교육감은 6일 제주도교육청에서 교육행정협의회를 열고 이 같은 내용을 담은 합의문에 서명했습니다.

이번 합의로 제주도는 내년부터 급식비의 60%를 부담합니다.

내년 도내 유치원과 초·중·고교 무상급식에는 모두 404억원이 소요될 예정으로 제주도는 242억5천여 만원을 부담하게 됩니다.
