1. Provincial ed. office releases ￦1.2t budget plan for next year
Includes financial support for children from large families

Beginning next year, all students from families with three or more children qualify for financial assistance for afterschool activities and lessons.

The provincial office of education says that plan is included in the 1.2 trillion won budget proposal for 2019 that it will submit to the provincial council. The total is 107.8 billion won more, or 9.9 percent higher, than this year’s budget.

4.3 billion will be spent on afterschool activities, which will be the first support of its kind in the nation.

The office will also provide financial assistance for the treatment of four types of disease, including childhood cancer, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular ailments, and rare incurable diseases.

Other plans for next year include the formation of a committee on public opinion on Jeju education, support for students entering foreign universities, and a stronger focus on peace and human rights education related to the April 3rd Incident.

제주교육청 내년 1조2천억 규모 예산 편성

내년부터 세 자녀이상 다자녀 가정의 모든 학생에 방과 후 학교 수강비가 지원됩니다.

제주도교육청은 이 같은 내용을 담은 1조 2천억원 규모의 새해 예산안을 편성해
제주도의회에 제출할 예정이라고 밝혔습니다.

이는 올해보다 9.9%인 1천 78억원이 늘어난 겁니다.

주요 예산항목을 보면 43억원을 투입해 전국에서 처음 다자녀 가정 자녀의 방과후 학교 수강비 지원할 계획입니다.

또 소아암과 심혈관, 뇌혈관과 희귀난치병 등 4대 질병 치료비도 지원합니다.이 밖에도 제주교육 공론화 위원회 구성과 해외대학 진학 지원과 4.3평화인권교육도 강화됩니다.
