2. Chickenpox afflicting more people each year
From 1,300 in 2016 to 2,700 so far this year

Medical authorities say locals need to do more to prevent chickenpox, as the number of people contracting it is growing by the year.

The provincial government says some 13-hundred locals came down with it in 2016. That number grew to 15-hundred last year, and it mushroomed to 27-hundred-and-counting this year.

Most patients are infants and elementary school students.

Local officials are asking everyone to get their chickenpox vaccinations, pay attention to personal hygiene, and refrain from outside activities if you do come down with it.

올들어 수두환자 급증…예방 주의

올들어 수두환자가 급증하고 있어 감염병 예방에 주의가 필요합니다.

제주특별자치도에 따르면 수두환자는 지난 2016년 1천 3백명, 지난해 1천 5백명, 올해는 지난달까지 2천 7백명으로 전년 대비 두 배 가까이 급증했습니다.

특히 초등학생과 영유아 수두 환자가 많이 발생하고 있습니다.

제주특별자치도는 백신 접종과 개인위생에 신경을 쓰고 수두가 생기면 단체 또는 외부 활동의 자제를 당부했습니다.
