1. Bird flu prevention efforts kick into high gear
Seogwipo authorities setting up checkpoints around migratory bird habitat

Now that migratory birds have begun arriving on the island, authorities are enacting tougher measures to prevent the spread of avian influenza.

Seogwipo is setting up four quarantine checkpoints around the migratory bird habitat in Ojo-ri as well as putting out disinfection mats and other facilities.

Officials will also set up standing signs around the habitat to minimize access to the area by people and vehicles.

These efforts come as authorities confirmed a non-contagious strain of bird flu on the island November 7th.

겨울 철새의 유입이 늘어남에 따라 조류인플루엔자 AI 바이러스 방역이 강화됩니다.

서귀포시는 성산읍 오조리 철새도래지에 바이러스 접촉 차단을 위한 방역초소 4개와 소독발판 등을 설치합니다.

또 철새도래지 주변에 입간판을 설치해 가금농가를 비롯한 사람과 차량의 출입을 최소화합니다.

제주에서는 지난 7일 AI 바이러스가 한 차례 검출됐지만 전염성이 없는 저병원성으로 확인됐습니다.
