Governor expresses caution regarding council member’s suggestion

A local lawmaker wants to relocate the Jeju Film Culture Promotion Agency from Jeju City to Seogwipo.

During a Wednesday question and answer session with provincial government representatives, council member Kim Yong-beom argued that combining the agency with the Asia CGI Animation Center in Seogwipo would streamline the implementation of cultural policy.

He added that converting the current home of the agency into an artists’ building would negate the need to purchase the Jamissum building, which has proved controversial.

In response, Governor Won Heeryong expressed caution about the proposal, saying the promotion agency needs to work with Jeju Techno Park and other organizations.


"영상문화진흥원 서귀포 이전…신중"

제주도의회 김용범 의원이 원희룡 지사에게 제주시에 있는 영상문화진흥원을 서귀포로 이전해 달라고 요구했습니다.

김 의원은 21일 도정질문에서 서귀포 CGI 센터에 영상문화진흥원 이전 기능을 통합하면 문화예술 정책 추진의 효율성이 높아질 수 있다고 주장했습니다.

아울러 지금 있는 영상문화진흥원은 예술인회관으로 활용할 경우 현재 논란이 되고 있는 재밋섬 건물 매입을 하지 않아도 된다고 덧붙혔습니다.

원 지사는 영상문화산업진흥원은 제주테크노파크 등 다른 기관과 협업이 중요하다며 이전에는 신중한 입장을 보였습니다.
