5. National authorities release Jeju Innovation City development plan
￦167b to be spent on 12 projects

Authorities have announced plans to use technology to develop the meetings, incentives, conventions, and exhibitions industry around the Jeju Innovation City.

The Presidential Committee for Balanced National Development has finalized a comprehensive development plan through 2022 for the Jeju Innovation City. It includes 12 projects, which cost 167 billion won. A development committee will be formed to identify new business models and to establish a platform for providing integrated information on conferences, exhibitions, and education. The goal is to host 160 international conferences annually.

It will also remodel unused spaces in nearby villages and develop a tailored tourism platform for the communities.

Finally, the committee will work on setting up rental car offices and connected vehicle technology as well as projects dedicated to urban crime prevention.

제주혁신도시를 통한 스마트 MICE 사업이 집중 육성됩니다.

국가균형발전위원회는 최근 오는 2022년까지 12개 사업에 1천 669억원을 투자하는 내용의 제주혁신도시 종합발전계획을 최종 확정했습니다.

주요내용을 보면 마이스 발전협의체를 구성해 새로운 비지니스 모델 발굴을 지원하며 회의와 전시, 교육에 대한 통합정보 제공 플랫폼을 구축해 연간 160건 이상의 국제회의를 유치합니다.

또 인근 마을의 유휴공간을 리모델링하고 방문객을 위한 맞춤형 마을관광 플랫폼을 구축하게 됩니다.

이와 함께 렌터카 하우스와 C-ITS 구축, 범죄예방형 도시환경 정비 사업도 추진하게 됩니다.
