Crackdown on violations begins next year

Jeju City is launching a campaign designed to bolster public order and it will begin cracking down on violations next year.

At a Thursday briefing at City Hall, Mayor (고희범) Go Hee-beom said there are an increasing number of problems related to the environment, transportation, and the city’s roads. He said members of the public will take part in the campaign.

Beginning next year, 1,000 local citizens will act as public order guards and be sent out to look for violations. They will work in conjunction with an administrative crackdown.

Jeju City will hold a proclamation ceremony Thursday at Halla Gymnasium to outline its basic public order agenda.

제주시가 생활 속 기초질서 지키기 캠페인을 전개하고 내년부터 본격 단속에 들어갑니다.

고희범 제주시장은 22일 제주시청에서 브리핑을 통해 환경과 교통, 도로 분야가
감당하기 어려운 상태에 처해 있다며 시민들의 참여 속에 기초질서 확립 운동을 전개한다고 밝혔습니다.

이를 위해 내년부터 일반 시민으로 구성된 기초질서 지킴이 1천명을 투입해 각종 질서 위반 행위를 적발하고 행정 단속과 연계한다는 방침입니다.

제주시는 오는 29일 한라체육관에서 기초질서 지키기 아젠다 선포식을 개최할 예정입니다.
