2. Permanent policy council closer to realization
Group will have roughly 10 members

The provincial government and the provincial council plan to institutionalize the existence and use of a permanent policy consultation council.

According to a proposed ordinance revision passed by the provincial council’s steering committee, the permanent policy council will consist of around 10 members, including government officials and local lawmakers. The governor and the council speaker will co-chair the group.

Members will discuss basic plans for important provincial policies and major issues that have a significant impact on local society.

The provincial government and the provincial council agreed in July to form this type of council as part of efforts to pursue “cooperative politics” on the island.

제주도의회 운영위원회가 가결한 조례 개정안에 따르면 상설협의회는 제주도지사와 도의회 의장을 공동위원장으로 공무원과 도의원 등 10명 내외로 구성됩니다.

협의회는 제주도의 중요 정책에 대한 기본적인 구상과 계획, 도민사회 중대한 영향을 미칠 수 있는 주요 결정사항 등을 논의합니다.

제주도와 도의회는 지난 7월 제주형 협치 제도화를 위한 상설정책협의회 공동선언문을 발표한 바 있습니다.
