Most cases involve land being used for parking, construction material storage

Authorities have uncovered dozens of cases in which land zoned for agriculture has been used for other purposes.

Provincial government representatives say they have uncovered 32 violations so far this year, amounting to about 30,000 square meters. In most of the cases, the land was being used to store construction material or for parking. They ordered the landowners to restore their properties to farmland.

Landowners who refuse those orders will be subject to judicial action. Provincial officials say they have no plans to let up on this crackdown.

농지 불법 전용 32건 적발 … 원상복구 명령

농지를 불법 전용해 건축 자재를 쌓아놓거나 주차장으로 활용하던 농가들이 무더기로 적발됐습니다.

제주특별자치도는 올들어 지금까지 농지 불법전용사례로 32건에 3만 제곱미터를 적발해 원상복구명령을 내렸다고 밝혔습니다.

이들 대부분은 건축 자재 야적장이나 주차장으로 불법 전용했다 적발됐습니다.

제주도는 원상복구명령을 이행하지 않으면 사법기관에 고발조치 하는 한편
이에 대한 단속을 지속적으로 벌일 방침입니다.
