Officials say they must balance public opinion, jobs, Jeju’s reputation

Local officials will decide this week whether to give final authorization to Greenland International Hospital.

Governor Won Heeryong held a meeting with relevant officials Monday to review the issue.

The attendees agreed on the importance of respecting the results of public opinion research on the issue. They also said it was necessary to take into account the reliability of the local government, Jeju’s international creditworthiness, and the creation of good jobs.

As the meeting was ending, the governor emphasized that he will consult closely with the presidential office, the national government, and area residents in order to conclude the matter this week.

녹지국제병원에 대한 최종 허가 여부가 금주에 결정됩니다.

원희룡 제주특별자치도지사는 3일 오전 관계공무원과 함께 녹지국제병원과 관련한 총괄 검토회의를 개최했습니다.

이 자리에서는 숙의형 공론조사위원회의 권고를 최대한 존중해야 하지만 행정의 신뢰성과 대외 신인도, 좋은 일자리 창출 등 지역경제 회복을 고려해 최종결정을 내려야 할 시점이라는데 공감대가 형성됐습니다.

원 지사는 회의를 마무리하면서 녹지병원과 관련한 최종 허가 여부를 금주중에 결정할 예정이며 지역주민은 물론 청와대와 정부측과 긴밀히 협의하겠다고 강조했습니다.
