4. Province aims to create 3,000 social-economy jobs

The provincial government plans to create 3,000 jobs in the social-economy sector.

It is establishing a basic five-year plan to turn Jeju into a leading region in the sector. It plans to spend 6.5 billion won on the initiative.

Officials want to develop a prime model for this type of project, and then plan to do so by expanding the existing social enterprise network into the service, tourism, and housing welfare sectors.

The province will also support specialized job training and the creation of new markets in the social economy.

The number of social enterprises in Jeju has more than doubled from 175 in 2014 to 360 this year.

제주도가 사회적경제 일자리 3천개 창출을 추진합니다.

이를 위해 앞으로 5년동안 사업비 65억원을 투입해 사회적경제 선도도시 육성을 위한 기본계획을 수립합니다.

특히 기존의 사회적 기업을 사회 서비스와 관광, 주거복지 등 다양한 분야로 확대해 우수모델을 개발합니다.

또 사회적 경제 일자리 창출을 위한 전문 훈련을 강화하고 판로 개척을 지원할 계획입니다.

한편 제주도내 사회적 기업은 2014년 175군데에서 올해 360군데로 2배 이상 증가했습니다.
