2. Korea Medical Association objects to Greenland Intl. Hospital decision
KMA chairman spoke with governor in person on Thursday

The chairman of the Korea Medical Association has told the governor that he objects to the conditional approval the governor granted the nation’s first for-profit hospital.

(최대집) Choi Dae-jip held a private meeting with Governor Won Heeryong Thursday at the Provincial Office. He relayed his group’s opposition to the opening of Greenland International Hospital.

Choi said it was time to focus on improving the health insurance system rather than allowing a for-profit hospital to open.
He added that his association will respond to the expected national concerns unleashed by the opening by collecting opinions from across the medical community.

의협, 원 지사 항의방문…"영리병원 반대"

국내 첫 영리병원 녹지국제병원이 조건부로 개원 허가를 받은 가운데 대한의사협회 최대집 회장이 제주도청을 항의 방문하고 영리병원 반대 의사를 전달했습니다.

최 회장은 6일 원희룡 지사와 비공개 면담을 갖고 대한의사협회는 이윤 창출을 목적으로 하는 의료기관인 녹지국제병원 개원을 공식적으로 반대한다는 의사를 전달했다고 밝혔습니다.

그러면서 지금은 영리병원 도입보다 건강보험제도 개선에 초점을 맞춰야 할 시점이라며 앞으로 예상되는 국민 우려에 대해 의료계 전체 의견을 수렴해서 대응해 나가겠다고 덧붙였습니다.
