Justice Party, Democratic Party, Bareunmirae Party oppose decision

Lawmakers from across the political spectrum have joined in the chorus of condemnation over the approval of Korea’s first for-profit hospital.

Justice Party leader Lee Jeong-mi claims the decision regarding Greenland International Hospital runs counter to the national government’s attempts to expand the health insurance system, what the administration calls “Moon Jae-in Care.”

Another lawmaker from the Justice Party, (윤소하)Yoon So-ha, said at a press conference that the governor should retract his approval for the hospital.

The Democratic Party of Korea and the Jeju office of the (바른미래) Bareunmirae Party released statements calling the governor’s decision a rejection of deliberative democracy. They argued that he ignored local opposition as demonstrated in public opinion polling and a committee on that research to push for the hospital’s opening.

'영리병원 개원 허가' 정치권 반발 잇따라

국내 첫 영리병원 개원 허가와 관련해 정치권에서도 반발이 이어지고 있습니다.

정의당 이정미 대표는 6일 상무위원회에서 영리병원은 건강보험 보장성을 확대하려는 문재인 케어 방향과도 배치된다고 주장했고, 같은 당 윤소하 국회의원도 기자회견을 통해 원희룡 지사가 개원 허가를 철회해야 한다고 요구했습니다.

더불어민주당과 바른미래당 제주도당도 논평을 내고 원 지사가 공론조사위원회의 불허 입장을 무시하고 영리병원을 허용하면서 숙의형 민주주의를 부정했다고 비판했습니다.
