2. Development restrictions in Seongsan-eup extended
Work curtailed until December 2020 around site for Jeju’s 2nd airport

Authorities have extended the development restrictions in five towns in (성산읍) Seongsan-eup, Seogwipo, the site for the island’s second airport.

The province announced Wednesday that development is restricted in (온평리) Onpyeong-ri and four other communities through December 15th, 2020. The designation covers a total of 5.86 million square meters of land.

Construction, land alterations, and soil and stone collection are all restricted in the zone.

Provincial officials say they had no choice but to extend the restrictions because of the delay in establishing the basic plan for the new airport.

2공항 예정지, '개발 제한' 재지정

제주 제2공항 예정부지인 서귀포시 성산읍 5개 마을이 개발행위허가 제한지역으로 재지정됐습니다.

제주도는 12일 성산읍 온평리 등 5개 마을 586만제곱미터를 2020년 12월 15일까지 개발행위허가 제한지역으로 재지정한다고 고시했습니다.

이에따라 해당 지역에서 건축행위나 토지 형질변경, 토석 채취 등이 제한됩니다.

제주도는 제2공항 개발과 관련한 기본계획 수립 절차가 늦어지면서 불가피하게 기간을 연장하게 됐다고 밝혔습니다.
