Governor defends decision, lawmakers say it should be revoked

The battle over the controversial approval granted to the nation’s first for-profit hospital has moved to the provincial council.

At a regular plenary session on Friday, Governor Won Heeryong said he approved Greenland International Hospital in order to maintain the credibility of the provincial government and to improve the local economy. He went on to apologize for not following the recommendation of the public opinion committee on the issue.
