4. Province wants to boost capital for Jeju Energy Corporation
Plan to increase it from ￦100b to ￦300b

The provincial government plans to amend a local ordinance in order to boost the capital that the Jeju Energy Corporation can use.

The province gave advance notice of the legal change Wednesday. It wants to boost the corporation’s capital from 100 billion to 300 billion won.

The corporation supports the development of wind power on the island. It is now working to develop a wind farm in Han-dong/Pyeongdae, which is expected to cost 470 billion won. The JEC has only 66 billion won to work with, so analysts say the public-sector participation in the project would be quite low.

조례 개정이 추진됩니다.

제주특별자치도는 19일 에너지공사 자본금을 1천억 원에서 3천억 원으로 확대하는 내용이 담긴 공사 설립 운영 조례 일부 개정안을 입법예고 했습니다.

현재 에너지공사가 추진하고 있는 한동 평대 해상풍력 개발사업은 전체 사업비가 4천 7백억 여원 규모로 이 중 공사 자본금은 660억 원에 불과해 공공성이 약하다는 지적을 받고 있습니다.
