Off-road motorcycles, vehicles have caused significant damage

Following KCTV reports about environmental damage at (문석이) Moonseoki Oreum, officials have temporarily barred access to the site.

Off-road motorcycles and vehicles have caused significant damage to the oreum in (송당리) Songdang-ri, (구좌읍) Gujwa-eup. The province has barred access until the end of 2020.

All activities, including cooking and the changing of soil characteristics, are banned. Anyone caught illegally accessing the oreum will face a fine of two million won.

The province also extended access restrictions for (물찻) Mulchat Oreum and (도너리) Doneori Oreum by one and two years, respectively.

훼손 심각 '문석이오름' 휴식년제…'출입 제한'

KCTV 보도로 훼손의 심각성이 알려진 구좌읍 송당리 문석이오름이 자연 휴식년제 오름으로 지정됐습니다.

제주도는 산악 오토바이와 차량 출입으로 심하게 훼손된 문석이오름을 2020년 12월까지 2년 동안 자연휴식년제 오름으로 지정 관리한다고 밝혔습니다.

이에 따라 문석이오름은 탐방객 출입과 취사, 토지 형질변경 등이 제한되며 무단침입시 2백만 원 이하의 과태료가 부과됩니다.

제주도는 또 현재 자연휴식년제 오름으로 관리하는 물찻오름과 도너리오름도 출입 제한기간을 각각 1년과 2년 연장했습니다.
