Governor denies problems by pointing to health ministry’s authorization

During that final council session on Friday, one local lawmaker pressed the governor regarding suspicions about indirect investment in Greenland International Hospital by domestic capital.

Hong Myeong-hwan argued that a Chinese company that was suspected of making an indirect investment in 2015 when the project began was still listed as part of the hospital’s medical network. He asked that the original documents for the development plans be publicly released.

In response, Governor Won Hee-ryong said it was true that the Chinese company had joined the project as part of the medical network. He denied that was a problem, though, saying that if it were, the Ministry of Health and Welfare wouldn’t have authorized the project.

"녹지병원, 국내자본 우회투자 의혹 여전"

21일 본회의에서 홍명환 의원은 원희룡 지사를 상대로 한 긴급현안 질문에서 녹지병원에 국내 자본 우회투자 의혹을 제기했습니다.

홍 의원은 지난 2015년 영리병원을 처음 시도할 당시 우회투자 논란을 받은 중국 업체가 지금도 녹지병원의 의료네트워크 형태로 기재돼 있다며 사업계획서 원본을 공개할 것을 요구했습니다.

이에 대해 원희룡 지사는 해당 업체가 네트워크로 참여하는 것은 맞다면서도
문제가 있었다면 보건복지부 승인이 나지 않았을 것이라며 의혹을 부인했습니다.
