Welfare ministry awards Jeju City for helping those at society’s edges

The Ministry of Health and Welfare has said Jeju City’s work to foster self-support among its citizens is excellent.

The ministry assessed local governments across the nation in how well they backed self-support work and asset formation.

One of the companies designated and being run by the city, the “Jeju Da Agricultural Corporation” was named an “excellent firm” for its work creating jobs for the vulnerable.

10 corporations and 500 people are taking part in this kind of work here in Jeju City.

제주시, 자활분야 '우수 지자체' 선정

제주시가 올해 자활분야 우수 지자체로 선정돼 보건복지부 장관 표창을 수상합니다.

보건복지부가 주관한 이번 평가는 전국 지방자치단체를 대상으로 자활근로와 자산형성지원 등 자활사업 성과를 중심으로 이뤄졌습니다.

특히 제주시가 지정 운영하고 있는 자활기업인 '영농법인 제주다'는 취약계층 일자리 창출분야에서 전국 우수 자활기업으로 선정됐습니다.

제주시 지역에서는 30개 사업단과 10개 자활기업에서 500여 명이 자활근로사업에 참여하고 있습니다.
