5. Hallasan open to hikers for first sunrise of 2019
Climbers can begin ascents at 12 AM on January 1

Hallasan National Park Office is bending the rules a little to allow people to climb to the top of the mountain at night to see the first sunrise of 2019, the Year of the Golden Pig.

Hikers will be allowed on both the (성판악) Seongpanak and the (관음사) Gwaneumsa trails beginning at midnight on January first. Both trails go to the summit.

The office says people should prepare properly for this type of undertaking. That includes hiking in pairs and being ready for snow and other types of inclement weather by carrying emergency equipment and food.

한라산국립공원관리소가 기해년 황금돼지해 첫 날 해돋이 감상을 위한 야간산행을 특별 허용합니다.

야간산행 허용코스는 정상까지 오를 수 있는 성판악과 관음사로 등반은 1월 1일 0시부터 가능합니다.

한라산국립공원관리소는 눈이 올 경우를 대비해 방한장비와 비상식량 등을 준비해야 하고 가급적 2인 1조로 그룹을 지어 탐방할 것을 당부하고 있습니다.
