4. Local sea levels rising 4.44 mm annually
National average: 2.9 mm

Sea levels in Jeju are rising faster than in other areas of the country.

The Korea Hydrographic and Oceanographic Agency is part of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries. It says local sea levels rose an average of 4.4 millimeters annually in the 29 years beginning in 1989.

The corresponding national figure is just 2.9 millimeters.

It wasn’t a uniform rise, even on the island. Waters rose an average of 5.76 millimeters yearly at Jeju Port. That was the most. They rose at a relatively slow pace of 3.01 millimeters annually at Seogwipo Port, but that was still more than the national average.

제주부근 평균 해수면 상승률은 4.44㎜를 기록했습니다.

같은 기간 전국 연안 평균 상승률은 2.9mm를 보였습니다.

관측지점별로는 제주항이 5.76mm로 가장 빨랐고 서귀포항은 3.01mm로 낮았지만 전국 평균을 상회했습니다.
