Province increases taxes on foreign-owned condos from 0.25% to 4%

Chinese investors oppose the provincial government’s decision to increase the tax burden on non-Koreans who bought condominiums here but who do not live in them.

An association of foreign investors who immigrated to the island held a press conference at the Provincial Office Wednesday. They called on the province to repeal its decision to expand the tax rate to 4 percent on condominiums bought by foreign investors, arguing that doing so breaks the provincial government’s promise of taxing those properties by only 0.25 percent.
