4. Authorities enforcing positive list system
New rules for agricultural chemical residue

Beginning this year, officials are fully enforcing what’s called a positive list system to regulate agricultural chemical residues in food and food products.

The PLS limits the maximum residue level for pesticides and other chemicals not expressly identified in regulations to 0.01 parts per million, which analysts say is equivalent to being undetectable.

The provincial government will dispose or delay the shipment of products that fail to meet the requirement. Violators also face fines of up to one million won.


미등록 농약 사용 제한 'PLS' 본격 시행

올해부터 미등록 농약 사용을 제한하는 농약허용물질 관리제도, 즉 PLS가 전면 시행됩니다.

PLS는 당국에 등록되지 않은 농약의 경우 잔류농약 허용기준을 사실상 불검출 수준인 0.01ppm으로 제한한 제도입니다.

제주도는 미등록 농약 허용기준을 초과한 농산물을 폐기나 출하 연기하고 농가에는 최대 100만 원의 과태료를 부과할 계획입니다.
