Opponents vow to get 1m signatures in support of their cause

Civic organizations and labor groups against commercialization of the medical system are demanding that the permission to open Greenland International Hospital be revoked.

About five hundred representatives of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions and the Korean Health and Medical Workers' Union held a rally Thursday morning in front of the Provincial Office. They promised to get one million signatures from people who oppose the establishment of the hospital, which they claim will usher in for-profit medical care.

They also condemned Governor Won Hee-ryong for his decision to permit the hospital’s opening, which they say runs counter to the will of Jeju people. They said that if he didn’t withdraw that decision, they would ramp up their opposition, including public efforts to get him to resign.

The protestors then marched to the Greenland Group office in (노형동) Nohyeong-dong all the while demonstrating for the cancelation of the for-profit hospital project.

의료 영리화를 반대하는 시민단체와 노동계가 제주 녹지국제병원 사업 철회를 촉구했습니다.

민주노총과 보건의료노조 관계자 5백여 명은 3일 오전 제주도청 앞에서 집회를 열고 의료 영리화의 신호탄인 녹지국제병원 사업 철회를 위해 100만 서명 운동을 벌이겠다고 강조했습니다.

도민 뜻을 저버린 원희룡 지사를 규탄하면서 영리병원 허가를 취소하지 않는다면
주민소환운동을 비롯해 전면적인 퇴진 운동에 나서겠다고 밝혔습니다.

이들은 제주도청에서 노형동 녹지그룹사무실까지 사업 철회를 촉구하는 거리행진도 진행했습니다.
