2. Seogwipo cracking down on illegal lodging operations
Authorities targeting one-month rentals, ‘party guesthouses’

Seogwipo officials are cracking down through February on lodgings that are illegally being rented out by the month as well as so-called “party guesthouses.”

Authorities are inspecting 16 lodgings that operate their own websites and offer one-month rentals. They are trying to determine if the lodgings are being misrepresented as short-term rentals and if they are engaged in other illegal activities, such as cooking or selling food.

They will also see if the guesthouses are offering unregistered food sales as well as looking for other unreported business activities and performing a safety check.

Violators will face administrative punishments and criminal charges.


'한달 살기·파티 게스트하우스' 집중 단속

서귀포시가 다음달까지 한달 살기를 운영하는 업체와 파티를 벌이는 게스트하우스를 집중 단속합니다.

한달 살기의 경우 홈페이지 운영업체 16곳을 대상으로 단기임대를 가장한 불법 숙박영업과 음식물 조리 또는 판매 행위를 점검하게 됩니다.

게스트하우스에 대해서는 미신고 음식점 영업 행위나 신고된 영업 외에 다른 영업 여부, 안전시설 정상관리 여부 등을 점검할 방침입니다.

서귀포시는 위반 사항이 적발될 경우 형사 고발과 함께 행정 조치할 계획입니다.
