4. Tougher rules for solar farms in mountainous areas
Land may no longer be reclassified as ‘miscellaneous use’

Authorities have banned the reclassification of mountainous areas on which solar farms are built.

Jeju City representatives say that the areas had been allowed to be reclassified for miscellaneous use. A legal change went into effect January 4th that barred that practice.

The goal of the revision is to prevent both the solar generation facilities from damaging the environment and the misuse of the locations for real estate speculation.

Anyone installing solar generation facilities in mountainous areas will now be able to use them for a maximum of 20 years. They will then be required to restore the land by re-planting trees.


태양광시설 설치 산지 '지목변경' 금지

태양광 발전시설이 설치된 산지에 대해 지목 변경이 제한됩니다.

제주시에 따르면 산지 내 태양광 발전시설을 설치하면 임야에서 잡종지로 지목 변경이 가능했지만 지난달 4일 이후로 설치한 산지에 대해서는 지목 변경이 금지됩니다.

산지 내 태양광 발전시설이 산림 훼손을 일으키고 부동산 투기에 악용되면서
산지관리법이 개정된 데 따른 조치입니다.

이에따라 임야에 태양광을 설치하려면 앞으로는 최대 20년 동안 태양광 발전시설을 목적으로 산지를 이용한 뒤 나무를 심어 산지로 복구해야 합니다.
