Officials to begin reviewing claims January 28

Authorities have ended the first period in five years in which people were allowed to file claims that they are, or a family member was, a victim of the April 3rd Incident.

The provincial government says 21,284 people filed claims over the past year.

340 are seeking official recognition as a victim. The remaining 20,944 say their relative was a victim.

The province will convene the first meeting in 2019 of the April 3rd Incident working committee on January 28th. Members will then begin reviewing the claims.

5년만에 재개된 제주 4.3 희생자와 유족에 대한 추가 신고자가 마무리된 가운데
2만명을 넘어선 것으로 잠정 집계됐습니다.

제주특별자치도는 지난 1년간 이뤄진 희생자와 유족에 대한 추가 신고를 통해
모두 2만 1천 284명이 접수한 것으로 잠정 집계됐다고 밝혔습니다.

이 가운데 희생자가 340명이며 유족은 2만 944명입니다.

제주도는 오는 28일 올들어 첫 4.3 실무위원회를 열어 희생자와 유족에 대한 심사를 진행할 예정입니다.
