November sales index at large retailers down 8.7%

Researchers say the economic slowdown has led to a significant drop in local consumption.

The Jeju branch of the Bank of Korea says the sales index at large retailers fell 8.7 percent in November compared to the year before.

The largest declines were in sales of footwear, bags, clothes, and cosmetics.

The Consumer Composite Sentiment Index in December stood at 98.4?shy of the benchmark score of 100.


경기 불황 제주지역 소비 둔화

경기불황으로 인해 제주지역의 소비가 크게 둔화됐습니다.

한국은행제주본부에 따르면 지난 11월 제주지역 대형소매점 판매액지수는 지난해 같은 기간보다 8.7% 떨어진 것으로 나타났습니다.

신발과 가방, 의복, 화장품 등을 중심으로 소비 둔화가 이어졌습니다.

12월 소비자심리지수도 98.4에 머물며 기준값인 100을 밑돌았습니다.
