Democratic floor leader to pursue changes to April 3rd Incident Special Law

The Democratic Party of Korea’s floor leader says he will do everything he can to pass a revision to the Jeju April 3rd Incident Special Law.

Hong Yeong-pyo said at a Friday meeting of the party’s supreme council that lawmakers should harness the momentum gained by a local court’s decision. For the first time in 71 years, a court has dismissed charges against some people convicted of offenses during the incident.

Hong argued for the need to uncover the truth about the incident and he vowed to pass the revision to the special law.

홍영표 더불어민주당 원내대표가 제주 4.3 특별법 개정안 통과에 최선을 다하겠다고 밝혔습니다.

홍 원내대표는 18일 중앙당 최고위원 회의에서 71년 만에 내려진 법원의 무죄 판결을 계기로 4.3에 대한 역사적 진실을 밝히는 노력이 가속화돼야 한다고 말했습니다.

이를 위해 4.3의 완전한 진상규명과 함께 현재 국회에 제출된 4.3 특별법 개정안 통과를 위해 노력하겠다고 강조했습니다.
