4. Two Chinese sentenced to prison for embezzlement
Guilty of misusing project financing

Two Chinese nationals have been sentenced to prison on embezzlement charges.

Jeju District Court Judge (제갈창) Jae Gal-chang sentenced a 53-year-old surnamed Yang and 49-year-old surnamed Shin to three years behind bars each.

The two were found guilty of misusing nearly 3.3 billion won in project financing for a development in an investment promotion zone. Authorities say the defendants used the loan for personal use.

제주지방법원 제2형사부 제갈창 부장판사는 지난 2014년 10월부터 2016년 6월까지 25차례에 걸쳐 투자진흥지구 부동산 PF(프로젝트 파이낸싱) 대출 자금 가운데 32억9천여 만원을 출해 개인 용도로 사용한 중국인 53살 양 모 피고인과 49살 신 모 피고인에게 징역 3년을 선고했습니다.
