Government offers service to help applicants find land

More people are taking advantage of a government service to find ancestral land that is legally theirs.

Provincial officials say they received 6,600 applications for the service last year. Authorities were able to provide the locations and lot numbers of 73-hundred plots of land to 19-hundred applicants.

21,000 applications have been submitted over the past three years. Officials have helped 6,200 people identify 22,000 plots of land, totalling 19 million square meters, that were rightfully theirs.

To access the service, an applicant must have both legal inheritance rights and a copy of his or her family register that demonstrates the ancestor’s death.

조상 땅 찾기 서비스가 꾸준한 호응을 얻고 있습니다.

제주특별자치도에 따르면 지난해 접수된 조상 땅 찾기 서비스는 6천 600 여건으로 이 가운데 1천 900명, 7천 300필지에 대한 소재지와 지번을 제공했습니다.

최근 3년간 모두 2만 1천여건이 접수됐으며 이 가운데 6천200명에게 조상 땅 2만 2천여필지, 면적으로는 1천 900만 제곱미터를 찾아줬습니다.

서비스 신청을 위해 법적 상속권이 있어야 하고 조상의 사망기록이 등재돼 있는 제적등본을 준비해야 합니다.
