2. Province’s rejection of Korea Airports Corporation’s request ‘illegal’
Court rules in favor of KAC in groundwater case

A local judge has ruled that the provincial government was wrong to reject the Korea Airports Corporation’s request to use more groundwater from Jeju.

The corporation uses the water in its ‘Meokneun Saemmul’(먹는샘물) mineral water.

Jeju District Court Judge Kim Jin-yeong ruled in favor of the KAC in the case. It had filed a suit to get the provincial government to revoke its cancellation of the KAC’s request to modify groundwater development and use.

The court found that it was improper of the province to cancel the request without offering acceptable legal grounds for doing so.

제주도가 한국공항의 먹는샘물 지하수 증산 신청 자체를 거부해선 안된다는 법원 판결이 나왔습니다.

제주지방병원 김진영 부장판사는 한국공항이 제주도를 상대로 제기한 지하수 개발 이용 변경허가 신청 반려처분 취소 소송에서 원고 승소판결했습니다.

재판부는 판결문을 통해 제주도가 법적근거 없이 한국공항의 신청을 반려한 것은 잘못이라고 판시했습니다.
