Local authorities ramping up prevention efforts

Authorities will soon start doing more forest fire forecasting and more inspections for fires.

The province has designated February first through May 15th as a critical fire period, during which island communities will ramp up prevention efforts.

More than 240 people, including firefighters and surveillance personnel will be dispatched to areas deemed to be at high risk for fires. About 20 firetrucks will also be on standby, as will helicopters.

Finally, the province will fine anyone caught illegally burning trash in a forest.

다음달부터 산불조심기간 운영

다음달부터 산불 예찰과 현장 단속이 강화됩니다.

제주특별자치도는 다음달부터 5월 15일까지를 산불조심기간으로 정하고
행정시와 읍면동별로 비상 근무에 들어갑니다.

이 기간 산불 취약지역에 산불진화대원과 감시원 등 240여 명을 투입하고
진화차량 20여대와 헬기도 배치합니다.

제주도는 산림에서 무단 소각할 경우 과태료를 부과할 방침입니다.
